Possibly my new favourite designer - Sanna Svedestedt

"I am intrigued by time, and how we choose to spend it. As a maker, I have the possibility to elope through my hands. I can put aside distracting thoughts by focusing on a desired shape.  We can work our way through.

With the body as the canvas, jewellery becomes a powerful tool of expression. I love the way jewellery imposes a strong impact on both the wearer and the viewer. Because of its close relation to the body and identity, jewellery is the language i use to transform my thoughts into work"

This brooch was designed by Kye-Yeon Son.
Made from copper, enamel and stainless steel.
I think its amazing!!
My life... Sad but strangely great!

Cast ring project 2010

Range of six cast rings that vary from eachother, but are modifications of one, origional ring.
I used a square amythist and Garnet cab.
cast rings, sterling silver

Step ring, cast, square Amythist, sterling silver

Trinket box designed to fit one ring from the range. This box was inspired by the legs of a rocking chair and the box can sway without the ring falling out or getting damaged in any way. Two Aquamarine cabs were used to accentuate the purple Amythist that can be seen through the lid. Box is sterling silver

Infecting the City

During design theory last week, we were priviledged to experience the infecting the city exhibition at the cape town station that was only there for a limited period of time. The exhibition is aimed to bring awareness to people using the locations that these people pass through everyday. i think the station was a great location as it is a newly designed building that has created alot of attraction over the last year, such as this exhibition hopes to do.
On display there were photos from local photographers as well as an expersional display from diesigner, Heath Dash. He collected rubbish from various houses all over Cape Town to bring awerness to the amount of litter the city disposes everyday.

Im glad I went to this exhibition and would like to attend it in years to come.

Dit is mooi

This is a pedistal from Swedish designer Carl Hagerling. i like the combination of clean cut wood and highly polished brass. I think this piece of furniture could fit into almost any room layout or colour scheem.
Well done mr. Hagerling, well done.
I found this print randomly on the internet and i absolutly love it, although i cant seem to find the name of the designer. i love how, although it seems so chaotic, there is some order by the use of geometric lines and complimenting colours.

This makes me very happy, I hope it does the same for you.x

Remember to...

This is another piece that I really like. I found it on the Franki Magazine website. I love the quirkiness and child-like aspect of it, while it can be worn by an adult to remember everyday things.

I realised that this piece fits in well with my theme for the year, communication. I am constantly on the lookout for inspiring images and words that can help me throughout this year.

just a little something from a dear friend of mine, thank you Famke!

Jewellery that my heart admires..

Ariane Hartmann, Ring, 2008Arianne Hartmann, Ring, 2008
I love this idea and ring from jewellery designer, Ariane Hartmann. I like how three simple rings can be worn apart and still be attractive, or they can be put together and worn as an intricate, beautiful piece that can be alternated and adapted to the wearer's daily preferances.
